Some people think our state is square,
they're wrong just wait and see,

Xbox 360 System Review

When the Xbox 360 came out, I was in line. It was an event that I'll never forget. I was working at Geek Squad and it was in the middle of November. I spent all day working and got off at around 6 or 7 at night. I was going to line up at the store that I worked at, but there was already more people in line than consoles that we had in stock. I didn't know what I was going to do, then my friend and now boss Jon called me up and told me that he was standing in line at the Best Buy in Westminster. I didn't really want to drive all the way there, it was about 40 mins out of my way, and I had to be at work in the morning. But I was determined to get my 360. I was waiting for it since I first heard about it.

So I got to the Westminster Best Buy and got in line. I was about the 90th person in like and Jon and a couple of his friends were around number 30 or so. So I sat in my Geek Squad uniform and sat and slept on the cold concret all night long untill the store opened up at 10:00am. I was alone and only had a crappy airline blanket stuffed in my van. I was so cold I think I slept for about 3 hours all together that night. It was such a terrible experiance, but that morning the doors of the Best Buy in westminster opened up and I rushed all the way to the back of the store and got my Xbox 360.

The bad thing was, since I was so far back in line, I didn't get a premium edition of the 360, I got the core version, and had to buy the HD cables and the Hard Drive and the wireless controller seperatly. Then once I got out of the store, spending well over 500 dollars, not including all the launch titles that I bought as well, I had to go back to work because I had to open. I don't know why I didn't just call in sick. I just called in with some lame excuse telling them that I'd be an hour late. I gave them so many fake excuses, like I got in a car accident, or that I had scurvy (yup, I actually called in Scurvy and pulled that one off!)

That night I got home and got to tear open my Xbox 360 finally. It was one of those moments that you just love, where you are sucked into your own little world, and everything is new and exciting. I spent the last couple days prepping my entertainment center area for my new console. Positioning the TV perfectly, setting up the chairs for maximum viewing, cutting holes for all the cable placements. You know, generic nerd stuff. I spent about 15 mins hooking everything up, I actually took my time because I wanted everything perfect. Then I turned on the console for the first time.

I was greated with the Xbox 360 intro screen, and then was dumped into the System setup. I got to choose the language settings, then the screen display settings and also the audio settings. Then once all that was done, I was promted to set up my user profile. This was the first thing that was different than to the original xbox. I tried to find out a good gamerpic, but the only one that I even liked remotely was the Pirate. I was very into pirates at the time (I still am) so this was just perfect for me. It's still my normal gamer picture and hasn't changed (you can see it on the homepage). Once I got the xbox Vision Camera, I changed my gamerpic to my Senior Picture, but that is only seen by people who are in my friends list.

After I set up my profile I looked around the Dashboard and looked at all the neat things that they had in there. After looking around for a while, I decided to transfer my Xbox Live account to my new 360. My original gamertag was "Ben Murphy" from the MST3K show (kinda an inside joke) but I found out for 800 M$ points, you can changer your gamertag. I thought this was awesome becuase I wanted it to be something easy to remember and tell people. None of this upper and lowercase leet speak crap, so I opted to change my gamertag to "Miles Moore". Nice and simple, I will never change my gamertag unless I absolutly have to.

The Xbox 360 is my favorite system of the now current generation. Although I own a Wii and Playstation 3, I still play my 360 well over twice the other consoles combined. It just has better games, and way more of them too. Plus Xbox Live is the best online system out there. The PSN Network and the terribly desined Friend Code system is just terrible compared to Live.
