The Orange Box Review
Half life was made over ten years ago and is still considered one of the greatest PC games of all time. Half Life 2 came out a while ago and I got that when it came out for the PC and was blown away by how good it was and the physics engine also. When I heard that The Orange Box was coming out and it was called The Orange Box, I was set out to never buy it and put it down to everyone I met because it was called "The Orange Box" not Half Life 2 and Beyond, or something cool, but just plainly The Orange Box. After reading reviews on how awesome it was, I started to change my mind. But I didn't want to buy it because I already had and beat it on the PC a few years ago. But it isn't just Half Life 2, but Episode 1 and 2, Team Fortress 2 (a multiplayer game) and Portal...Thats five games in one package! I used to play Counter-Strike and the mod for it Day Of Defeat....I ruled at the game with Brendan and Andrej. So I had no interest in Team Fortress 2. I already played and beat Half Life 2, so I didn't really want to play that again, and so all I had left were Episode 1 and 2 and Portal. I heard rave reviews from everyone about Portal and the ending song. So I played that first. All this game is is a first person puzzle game...and really makes you think. It's amazing and you just have to play it to see for yourself on how awesome this game really is. Even for being so short, I'd gladly pay 60 bucks just for that. Then I got to Episode 1 and 2 and was thrown right back into the awesome story of Half Life. I'd kinda forgotten the story but luckily they fill you in enough to get you going. Episode 1 and 2 are just good plain old Half Live fun. Now all I have is Team Fortress 2.... It seemed as though it went through alot of retooling from the terrible original. All the characters are now made in a cartoon-ish fashion. And the maps are more of a looney toons feel. This was interesting. I was bugged by my core group kid Brandon to play it every time I talked to him, and I always told him I'd get around to it. One day while I was sitting around in my apartment, shortly after I moved to Colorado, I saw him online and he wanted to play TF2. I threw in the disc and we started playing. The controls were different then what I was used to (Halo 3 and Call of Duty) But I slowly started learning the controls and all the different classes you could be. Like the Scout who can run extremely fast, or the soldier who has a rocket launcher and a shotgun (My personal pick) or The Medic who can heal other players, or the spy who can fool the other team and then knife them in the back. TF2 is really fun and a blast to play online. They say there are new maps on the way too, which they want to be free but is up to Microsoft and Sony. Right now, it's my pick for online Multiplayer.
Likes: Five Games in One...come on, you can't get better than that! Portal. Period. Team Fortress with it's now cartoon feel, makes it a little bit more fun and light hearted
Dislikes: If you already played through Half Life 2 and Episode 1 and 2 on PC, that is a really big chunk of the game....but that is really the ony thing bad about this game.
Overall: Must Buy. It's Five games in one! You aren't going to find a better deal than that. Plus Portal alone is worth picking this up.
