Rainbow Six Vegas 2
Alright, I have been looking forward to this game ever since I had heard that it was comming out. I think it was right before I moved out here to Colorado. I bought the first one for Xbox 360 after talking to Andrew at Games-4-U, and he told me that it was really good. I played Rainbow Six 3, and (the expasion packs basically) Black Arrow and Lockdown and fell in love with the series (Other than Lockdown, it just wasn't as good and felt different). So after playing Rainbow Six Vegas and getting stuck because I was playing it on Realistic I forgot about the game. Brady and Jeffer's the Panda Bear borrowed it when I lived by myself and just plum forgot about it. When I moved out here, I needed something to play and I looked up games that were comming out and Vegas 2 was comming out that week, so I quickly rememberd that I hadn't finished the first one. So I popped it in my 360 and finished it up in a day or two. It was really hard. So I drive down to this place called Buy Back Games, and talked to the chick behind the counter and traded in Assassin's Creed and the first Vegas and got Vegas 2 for just $10! I got home and threw it in. Before you even begin the game, you are asked to create a character and since I have the Live Vision camera, I got to take a picture of myself and use the face mapping and unlock like 20 gamerpoints for using the face mapping. It almost wasn't worth it, becuase it was at night time and the camera had a hard time taking pictures even when I had multiple light scources. It was such a pain, but like an hour later (no joke) I finally got started playing the game. I just had finished up the previous game a day earlier, so I knew what was going on story wise. But even then this game really didn't tie anything in with the previous one....Well it did, to an extent, but its all a couple characters talking to you while you are in a Helicopter so you can't really hear what is going on anyways.....bad idea programmers. Next the game is called Vegas 2, which barely takes place in Vegas...I believe two of the levels are in Vegas...Granted, the first Vegas had locations in Mexico...but still...two levels don't really make sense that it is called Vegas 2....another bad idea by the programmers. It really was kinda short too which is my major gripe with the game. It didn't really have any new updated graphics or textures, the gameplay was basically the same (which is good) but only added some new guns (which I only stuck with three guns the whole game because they were the best and I had them from the begining) The game was easier in my oppinion than the first, even playing on Realistic. Yes, there was a couple parts that I was stuck on for maybe 30 mins or so. But still. Also it was shorter than the first, and had nothing really new in it other than a few guns, and new levels. It was a good game, but was beaten within two days. 60 bucks for a game that was beaten in two days on Realistic mode... No thanks. Ok, I'm going to go with a Kotaku Rating system here, since its easy to read and I'm lazy. Liked: Rainbow Six gameplay (Rainbow Six 3-Vegas) Custom Character and lots of equipment to customize Unlocking Classes and such like in Call Of Duty 4 which will allow you to unlock new weapons and whatnot but you can earn points in Single Player and Multiplayer which is just a little better than CoD4
Disliked: Storyline was forgettable and wasn't really a part of the game at all...If I didn't play the previous game and beat it before, I would not know what the crap was going on at all. Characters telling you a little backstory in a Chopper isn't really the best way to tell the story. Wasn't really even based in Vegas, therefore should have been called something else also took place more along side the first one with a diffrent story line than a new story line or a continuation of the previous one. Should have been an expansion pack instead of a whole new game that cost $60... I would have gladly paid 30 for this being Downloadable Content.
Overall: Rent
