Halo 3 Review
Halo 3 came out in September 2007 and was one of the biggest hyped games ever... Rightfully so too! It is Microsofts main franchise for the Xbox and Halo and Halo 2 sold millions of copies. Fans apparently weren't too pleased with Halo 2 (I thought everyone loved it) but they had to make up to the fans. I don't think they dissapointed anyone with the last game in the Halo Trilogy. After the random cliffhanger ending that was Halo 2 (which is the only flaw that I can point out, other than having the Aribiter as a playable sidekick who I didn't care about at all) Halo 3 starts off right where Halo 2 left. The marketing for this game alone was insane. Mountain Dew made a new "Game Fuel" Drink and ads for the game aired over the television and even in the movie theaters. The game itself even came in different packages. You had just the regular 60 buck game, in a normal game case, then the better edition which had a bonus disk and came in a better tin collectors case, and then the Ledendary Edition, which came in a huge box and had a replica helmet and two cases. One case was the game, and the other housed several discs with Bonus content. Some was just "Making Of" features and some other were random "How To set up your router" features and some playable mini game stuff. this time they got things right with this game. Making the campain mode playable not just with 4 people over system link, but also over live, which is something they promised last time, but failed to deliver. Looking back with Halo 2 and what live was a few years ago, I don't think it would have been possible anyways. Playing through the campain mode is ok. The story is good, I guess, but its your average run of the mill space marine fights aliens and saves earth that you've seen before. Playing through on the legendary mode is a little easier than in Halo 2, I coudn't even get passed the first level by myself....that wasn't even fun hard. Just retarted Hard, like Ninja Giaden. But to get the most out of the campain mode, play through it with a friend, either system link or over Live...I don't suggest playing split screen, because the graphics take a little hit, and also you loose screen size and it's harder to see even on a 62" DLP. Multiplayer is where this game shines....seems to be that way with a lot of games lately. They really stepped this part up from the last game. So many custimizations and things to do, from all the driffrent colors of teams (thank you for including Purple as a team color!) They included Forge, where the player can edit anything in the map and create a whole new game out of just a regular old map. Then you can upload them and play them online. Also you can record clips and save pictures then upload them for all your friends to see. This game really has alot to offer and is great to play with a bunch of friends sitting on the couch or even playing with a bunch of random strangers on Live...actually I take that back, only play with people you know online and that are in your friends list. Unless you like getting cussed out by 12 year olds and having just swear words and gay jokes being constitally said the whole game.
Likes: Graphics are top notch, in single player mode anyways. Looks stupidly beautiful. Mutiplayer looks good as well, but needs to be dumbed down for online play. Online Co-op campain mode (Finally!) Forge and Online play have so many options and customizations. Finding hidden skulls and unlocking armor and other things for Multiplayer
Dislikes: Last level is a rehash of last level of the first game basically (but I guess some people liked it because of "nostagia", if you can even have that from a game release not even that long ago) Ending wasn't all that great, even if you finish it on legendary and get the "good ending" it still isn't all the great. Getting online only to get cussed out by every 12 year old who thinks they are cool becuase they can only swear and say gay jokes....not fun at all, and why I don't play online at all unless it's with my core group.
Overall: If you have a 360 you should own this unless you don't want to be cool and play online with your friends
