Guitar Hero II Review

Ok, When this game first came out on the PS2, I was working at Geek Squad with Brady and Jeffers The Panda Bear. I had never heard of the game before and everyone was all excited. I was busy playing with my Xbox 360 so I really didn't care about Playstation games at all. Plus when I looked at the game from the box and heard about what this game was, I said what everyone said before they played this game..."Why don't you just play a real guitar?" Boy was I in for a suprise.

One night there was a Party At My House, as usual at the time. And Christ and Brian Nevarez came over and brought there PS2 and Guitar Hero II and two Guitar controllers. We set it up, and I watched them play it. I was amazed. I couldn't believe how much fun it looked like. But I was scared...even though I've killed and eaten a bear, fallen off a cliff, gotten electricuted many times, had a .44 Magnum blow up in my hands and almost kill me, and other things I was scared of playing this game because it looked really really difficult. So I was handed the guitar and Chris and I played "Message in a Bottle" by The Police. But even on Easy, I still failed. But it looked really fun. So we played it all night long, passing around the controller after every song.

When the game was announced for 360, I got excited, but scared again. The guys that I worked with were looking forward to it, and they talked about how good they were too. So then that excited me even more. When it was released, I took the day off of work and played through the game on Easy in one sitting... It was so much fun....well one day, one sitting, but I did have to drop my sister off at the Hospital for work in the middle of it, but that dosen't really count.

I then worked my way up to Medium setting and took a good week or two to finally get it. Tom helped me and we played all the time. Tom finally was like "Ok, we have to try Hard!" but I didn't want to, it was just so....hard. It took a good two hours or so to beat Surrender on Hard that first night...I hate that song now by the way.

After that we slowly played through the rest of the Hard mode and went on to expert, but it was just too difficult.

So many good songs to play, and it had "Thunderhorse" from Dethklok...how could you not want to play this game?! The 360 version also came with ten new songs, one of which was "The Trooper" by Iron Maiden...I was hooked.

Likes:

Introduced a new rythm based gameplay to the market

New songs that are only available on 360

Pretty easy to get a hold of after only a few tries. Take a day and you'll be playing on Medium even if you have no rythm, Like me!

Dislikes:

Was promised that there was going to be tons of downloadble content from day one of launch and didn't see anything until months later. Even then they only release a few track packs and were overpriced. and only were songs from the first game. And were extremely Easy too even on the Hard and Expert settings.

Overall: Buy This Game! You should own this game if you like music at all,and also like having fun. Great party game
